Artisan Metal Grip Care: Gold, Silver, Black Nickel Guide
Handcrafted with deep engraving and premium finishes. With this guide, you'll preserve shine, relief, and numbering for years, reducing the risk of scratches and dullness.
- After use: microfiber cloth, no abrasives, and store in wooden case/box with silica gel.
- Avoid: acetone, thinner, chlorine, strong alcohol, hard fibers, or excessive pressure on screws.
- Periodic check: firm screws without overdoing it; if needed, use mild threadlocker (blue).

1) Safety and recommended kit
Always handle with the firearm unloaded and in a safe area.
- 2 soft microfiber cloths (cleaning / drying).
- Neutral soap (1 drop in warm water).
- Cotton swabs for detailed areas.
- Nitrile gloves (prevent fingerprints).
- Wooden case or box for dry storage.
- Silica gel (replace every 2–3 months).
- Mild threadlocker (blue) for screws (optional).
Avoid: acetone, strong alcohol, chlorine, abrasive polishes, hard fibers, or scouring pads.

2) Quick routine after each use (60 seconds)
- Clean with microfiber (gentle passes; no pressure).
- On detailed areas, use cotton swab barely dampened; dry at the end.
- Check that screws have no play.
- Store in wooden case/box with silica gel.
- Avoid direct contact with other metal pieces.
3) Deep cleaning (every 4–8 weeks)
- Wash hands or use nitrile gloves.
- Remove dust with dry microfiber.
- Prepare warm water + 1 drop of neutral soap.
- Dampen the cloth lightly (don't soak); clean in the direction of the engraving.
- Detailed areas: cotton swab barely dampened (then dry).
- Rinse with a clean cloth barely dampened with water only.
- Dry completely with microfiber (without rubbing hard).
- Check screws; if needed, apply mild threadlocker (one drop).
- Store in dry case with silica gel.
Note: If stubborn residue remains, repeat the cycle. Do not use harsh chemicals or industrial polishes.

4) What to do / What not to do
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Soft microfiber, light movements | Abrasive polishes or industrial pastes |
| Neutral soap (highly diluted) | Acetone, thinner, chlorine, ammonia, strong alcohol |
| Store in wooden box + silica gel | Store long-term in damp leather cases |
| Periodic screw inspection | Over-tighten (can mark or deform) |
| Cotton swab for detailed areas | Scouring pads, hard fibers, or rough paper |
5) Care by finish
Gold (plated/gilded)
- More sensitive to chemical abrasion: only microfiber + neutral soap.
- Completely avoid polishes. Fingerprints: clean and dry without pressure.
- Dry storage and no direct contact with other pieces.
Silver
- Can dull from environment. Use microfiber; if you notice mild darkening, use dry cloth.
- Avoid "polishing cloths" with chemicals if plated.
Black Nickel
- Resilient to fingerprints, but not immune to scratches from hard friction.
- Microfiber + diluted neutral soap; dry immediately.
- Maintain a consistent routine for uniform shine.
6) Premium storage (avoid moisture and scuffs)
- Wooden box: stable microclimate. Add silica gel and replace every 2–3 months.
- Separators/cloths between pieces to prevent metal-to-metal contact.
- Dry, ventilated environment (ideal 40–55% RH).
- For display: stands with soft lining (microfiber or fine felt).
7) Screws and adjustment (without damaging the finish)
- Use correct bits that fit perfectly (avoid stripping the head).
- Cross-pattern tightening and gradual, until "firm without overdoing it".
- If needed, a micro-drop of mild threadlocker (blue).
- After the first session, check and, if necessary, re-tighten lightly.
8) Fingerprints and micro-scratches
- Fingerprints: dry microfiber; if they persist, barely dampened microfiber with neutral soapy water, and dry at the end.
- Micro-scratches: avoid abrasive compounds; on plated finishes they could thin the layer. Prevention is key.
9) Frequently asked questions
Can I use alcohol?
We don't recommend strong alcohol or solvents. Better to use water + neutral soap.
How often do I replace the silica gel?
Every 2–3 months or sooner if you notice saturation (depending on the color indicator).
Can I store them in the holster?
For short transport, yes. For long-term storage, a wooden box and protective cloth are better.
Can gold/silver be "polished"?
If plated, avoid chemical polishes. Microfiber + neutral soap is the safe choice.
A screw is getting loose?
Light cross-pattern tightening; if it persists, use mild threadlocker (blue) in minimal quantity.
