The fifty-peso Centenario was struck for the first century of Mexican independence, and its Winged Victory has stood for that century ever since. Here the coin is 24K gold-plated at the center of a silver-plated panel, with the surrounding scrollwork cut clean through so the frame of the pistol shows behind it — cachas built on a 20-gauge alpaca silver alloy base and engraved by hand in our Guadalajara workshop, where the family has made western pistol grips since 1984.
