The 50-peso Centenario coin sits in 24K gold-plated relief against engraving darkened with black nickel-plating, and the whole outline is traced in white zirconias that close into a horseshoe at each end. The contrast is the point: the darker the field, the harder the plating and the stones read.
All finishes are applied over an alpaca silver alloy base and the scrollwork is cut by hand in our Guadalajara workshop, where the Ortiz family has been making western pistol grips since 1984.
