The Aztec calendar — the Piedra del Sol — is Mexico’s oldest statement of time itself: twenty day-signs ringing the face of Tonatiuh, cut by hands that measured centuries. Here it appears twice, one medallion to a panel, in 24K gold-plated relief with gold-plated horseshoes above and below, set against a hand-engraved field in black nickel-plating and bordered in white zirconias. Every piece is finished over alpaca silver alloy at the family workshop in Guadalajara, where the Ortiz family has worked since 1984. Fits the Colt 1911 Full-Size, .45 ACP, .38 Super, Kimber 9mm 1911 and Rock Island.
